It’s Oh Ne. And it’s an album about the fall of an utopian projection. German Rockmusic lived from the projection of the US A as its holy place. Since the beginnings of German Rockmusic in the 60’s this has been the face of its motivation,
from shallow bands to great bands like Can, although there were Bands that clearly went away from this (Kraftwerk for example), it remained an essential part in German
music until today. Full of clichés this projection has been expressed and has become itself part of German culture. But since there is no “American Dream” anymore these clichés that have expressed themselves in styles began to fade. Netzeband Glitzerwelt
lives out these clichés again from today’s point of view. Not a concept album, but like a natural happening this record is. Although none of these thoughts were made before the record was finished, although there was no planing in the song names, no special interest in American culture nor German Rockmusic, you will find these ideas confronting when listening to the record. Oh Ne see this album as an important point in their work and, surprised by themselves, find it to be important for German Rockmusic, an album that no one demanded, but which evolved like there was a need.

Because they had no songs (yet nice outfits=imagine the nicest of all golf outfits + unplugged unneccessary instruments to promote their absent musical skills + the finest of all fake smiles!!) Yes, right then they were already a great band (like Grizzly Bear maybe or Radiohead or Animal Collective or any of those urban hippy suckers). The best thing he has done to date. He kills them all. Shiriaki Lanxxess formerly the maroccco guy.
I know he is working on an album and I have listened to some rough mixes of early versions for it. This song here shows the direction the whole thing is going. Like a dance version of the film he is living in, it sounds.
He has a strange production method that is unbelievable. No normal person would get a track this great out of it. I doubt anyone would even get any kind of track out of it!
Listen to the track and get the feeling from the chords and sounds he is engaging. I cannot find anyone in the whole musical world that defines this vague space, one that has never been spoken of, like he does. I mean, thats the work of Ramin Ton anyway, but he really examplifies the thing we are up to. Think of the early 80s Kassettentaeter scene from Germany or the early 70s Krautrock movement that invented all these sounds that were all rooted so deep in German tradition! Thats what made them all so special. Shiriaki does it with the same enthusiasm but it is now. RIGHT NOW! What Ariel Pink does for the U.S.A. (the thing that is more than nostalgic, the thing that really takes something from US tradition that which would stay invisible without him telling it) this is what Shiriaki does here. A narration that will become historical I believe. Because it is telling us something different and important about the world that we without this artist would never be able to see.

Oh Ne SONG from the bottom of their souls

If Electric Dance Music has any news then this is it. This is the best dance song I have heard in a long time. I cannot remember one instrumental flashing me like this since some early Mdslktr works. It is a music that I couldn't fit into any category.
There has always been something vague in the music of Oh Ne that looked like musical inabbility but with Islandia 2 they show that there is always been an idea behind it and that they have learned how to put this idea in the perfect setting. I hope that there will be more songs like it soon.
(P.S. Look at the Team17 post below since it is in its way totally smashing/same size.)

They recorded an album. And these recordings were made previous to it. For the one reason: To remember what they wanted. Some of the ideas aren't on the album. Some have been evolved. Some have been totally changed.
Right now the album is in the mastering process. Covers being programmed and chinese children were enslaved for CD pressing purposses.
The release is planned to come out this spring.

RTN009: Oh Ne "Miami"

Oh Ne: ‹Miami› [3 track ep]

Oh Ne released an E.P. consisting of a jam session they did on their trip to MIAMI, FL (United States of their dreams) last month. 3 Tracks. The main song is the almost 17 minutes long jam "Miami" that has been cut to some kind of rock song called "Miami Auslegware" from which then again the song "Oder Erinnerung von Miami" has been made. A reduced version of "Miami Auslegware". All this is part of the concept for the record which explains itself by reading its listening advice (you can find it on the download page).
